International collaboration strengthens accounting professionals

The National Institute of Accountants (NIA) and the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) have signed a historic memorandum of understanding (MOU).
澳大利亚国家会计师协会（NIA）与印度成本及工程会计师协会（the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India, ICWAI）已经签署了一项具有历史意义的备忘录（MOU）。
The agreement will benefit members of both Institutes in developing educational and training programs – while also incorporating a mutual recognition of qualifications – providing a career pathway for accounting professionals wanting to work overseas.
该协议将同时有利于教育发展机构以及培训机构的会员---同时也纳入了资格互认---为希望到海外工作的会计专业人士提供了职业上的新途径。
The National Institute of Accountants chief executive officer, Andrew Conway, said that its recent announcement to rebrand the Institute would also provide members of ICWAI with strong international links.
―The agreement between the ICWAI and the NIA is an exciting development for both Institutes especially during our transition to adopting one of the two globally accepted terms that denotes a qualified professional in the accounting sector. From May 2011, we will be reinvigorated as the Institute of Public Accountants （IPA）.

Members of NIA and ICWAI will have an opportunity to share and learn from one another through the mutual sharing of knowledge and experience, helping to raise the standards of the accounting profession internationally.

Mr Brij Mohan Sharma, the President of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India said that it was an exciting development for its members.
―The memorandum of understanding has been well received by ICWAI members as it will further enhance the recognition and professional opportunities for members wishing to work internationally. We are very supportive of NIA’s recent announcement to rebrand to the Institute of Public Accountants as it will help showcase members and their work, especially in areas of research on matters affecting accountants globally,said Mr Sharma.
